Instructions

Herding

  • Step 1:
Old English Sheep Dogs and Border Collies were bred to herd sheep. As a result, these dogs may try to "herd" small children and other animals by chasing and nipping at them.

Territorialism

  • Step 1:
German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers and Rottweilers have been bred over time as guard dogs. The territorial trait can make these breeds act aggressively beyond the owner's comfort zone.

Separation Anxiety

  • Step 1:
Northern pulling dogs such as Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes are bred to work and even sleep in packs. These dogs may be more susceptible to acting out of separation anxiety when they are separated from their family "pack."

Running Away

  • Step 1:
Beagles, Bassets and other hound dogs are bred to track and hunt. These dogs are prone to running away if a scent catches their interest.

Chasing

  • Step 1:
Terriers are bred to chase and unearth rodents. They may invoke this trait at home by chasing smaller "game" such as cats or rabbits.
