How to Decorate for a Puppy Party

Things You’ll Need:

Card stock
Markers or letter stickers
Pencil
Paw print clip art or stencil
Balloons
Paper fence cut outs
Paper or plastic dog collars
Ribbon
Plastic dog bowls
Puppy-themed plates and cups
Paw print rubber stamp and ink
Dog bone die cuts or stencil

Step 1:
Choose card stock in your child's favorite colors to create puppy-themed signs for your front door. Use markers or letter stickers to add phrases such as, "Kennel Club Entrance" or "Puppies Only: No Cats Allowed."
Step 2:
Use scissors to cut black card stock into 6-inch-tall paw prints that the guests can follow from the street to the front door to the refreshment table and the area where you'll organize games or crafts. Use a pencil to trace a clip art image or a stencil from the craft store if you need assistance making the paw-shaped dog party embellishments.
Step 3:
Customize plain white balloons to become themed puppy party decorations by drawing black spots on them with a black marker. If you'd rather not give the balloons the Dalmatian look, simply draw paw prints on colored balloons that coordinate with the other decorations.
Step 4:
Line the walls with paper cut outs of white picket fences from a party or teacher supply store to help the guests feel like puppies romping in the yard. Drape plastic or paper dog collars and ribbon "leashes" on the fence or a hook on the door as if the puppies' "owners" are letting them run free.
Step 5:
Buy colorful plastic dog bowls at the dollar store that the guests can use when eating snacks like dog bone-shaped cookies. To serve lunch, cake and beverages, buy paper tableware printed with puppy faces or simply rubber stamp paw prints around the edges of plain paper cups and plates.
Step 6:
Scatter paper dog bone die cuts on the floor, driveway and refreshment and gift tables. Buy premade die cuts at a scrapbooking store or cut your own using the die cut machines available for customer use at craft and scrapbooking stores. You also can hand cut your own accents using white card stock, a dog bone stencil, a pencil and scissors.

Tips & Warnings

Let the guests create puppy party crafts that also can double as decorations during the event. Give each child a construction paper cutout that resembles the front of a dog house. Provide markers, letter stickers, paint and glitter glue, and instruct each child to add his "puppy name" to the front of the dog house along with colorful designs. Affix the dog houses to a wall or your garage door with removable adhesive.
