How to Draw Puppies in Pencil

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Eraser
  • Step 1:
    Draw the shapes making up the body of the leftmost puppy.Look at the image of the beagle puppies provided in the Resources section. Draw the rudimentary shapes that make up the body and head of the puppy on the left.
  • Step 2:
    Draw the shapes making up the beagle puppy on the right.Observe the image of the beagle puppy on the right and draw the shapes that make up his head, snout and body. They should be circular and oval shapes.
  • Step 3:
    Draw the shapes making up the legs and paws of the puppies.Draw the shapes making up the legs and paws of the puppy on the left. Do the same for the puppy on the right.
  • Step 4:
    Sketch out the head of the puppy on the left.Sketch out the details of the head for the beagle puppy on the left. Because this drawing is entirely in pencil, indicate the color markings on the beagle puppy's head as well.
  • Step 5:
    Draw the bodies of both puppies.Use the guiding shapes to draw the bodies of both puppies. Erase the guiding lines when you're finished.
  • Step 6:
    Shade in the markings on the puppies.Study the marking patterns in each puppy. Shade in their heads and bodies accordingly. Use very light, diagonal lines in pencil to mark where any shadows cast across the puppies' bodies. Also, draw their paw pads.
