How to Make Homemade Cough Syrup for Dogs

Things You’ll Need:

  • Step 1:
    Pour 1/4 cup of lemonade in a pot and warm it up on the stove.
  • Step 2:
    Add 1 tsp. of sugar to the pot and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Step 3:
    Add 1 tsp. of honey to the pot and stir.
  • Step 4:
    Give your dog 2 tsp. of this homemade cough syrup once every 4 hours.
  • Step 5:
    Visit a vet as soon as you get a chance to make sure your dog's cough is not a symptom of a more serious illness.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take off your dog's collar, which can constrict the throat and cause the coughing to get worse.
  • Do not give your dog any medication that contains acetaminophen. It is extremely dangerous for dogs.
