Rescue a Shih Tzu in Alabama

Step 1:

Step 2:
Look through the websites and make sure that adopting a Shih Tzu is something that is right for you and your family. Read all of the information on the breed.
Step 3:
Click on the link for the application. Fill the application out honestly. This will help decide whether you are the right candidate for adopting a Shih Tzu. If you have children under 10, do not apply to adopt a Shih Tzu.
Step 4:
If you are a qualified applicant, a volunteer will contact you and set up an appointment for a home visit and for further questioning. When the volunteer visits your home, he will bring the foster dog with them. Make sure that all family members, including other pets, will be present. The volunteer needs to learn whether your home is fit for a Shih Tzu.
Step 5:
The volunteer committee will then follow up with your references and call your veterinarian to ensure that you have a positive history of animal ownership.
Step 6:
Once the application process is complete and a suitable Shih Tzu is available to be placed into your home, you will be contacted and the pet will be brought to you. You will sign the adoption papers, pay the $200-$300 adoption fee, and enjoy your new family member.

Shih Tzus do not like to be alone. If you are gone for the majority of the day, you might consider adopting two.
Shih Tzu dogs require regular grooming.
Do not adopt if you have a child under ten.
