How to Rescue a Shih Tzu in Seattle

  • Step 1:
    The local Shih Tzu Rescue in Seattle is the Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue. Click on their website link in the Resources section below.
  • Step 2:
    Download the terms of adoption and read through them thoroughly. If you agree to the terms, print out and sign the form.
  • Step 3:
    Download and print out the application for adoption. Answer it openly and honestly. The adoption application will help the rescue find the best Shih Tzu for your family.
  • Step 4:
    Mail the application, terms of adoption and $5 to the Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 3523, Redmond, WA 98073-3523.
  • Step 5:
    You will be contacted by a Shih Tzu breed Representative within 2 weeks of sending out your application. They will ask you further questions about your home environment, veterinarian and how often you are at your house. Should the interview go well, your representative will place a Shih Tzu in your home once one that fits your profile becomes available.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shih Tzu dogs do not like to be alone. If you are gone for extended periods of time, consider adopting two Shih Tzu dogs.
  • Shih Tzu dogs require regular visits to a groomer. Make sure you have funds set aside to pay for this.
  • Shih Tzu puppies are not toys. Please consider adopting an older dog if you have young children.
