Instructions

  • Step 1:
Secure a building to use for your American Lo-Sze Pugg rescue. Depending on the state you are in and the city, be sure that it is zoned for a business. You might need a special permit or a license for an animal business. Check with the city hall in your town to see what the regulations are for an animal shelter or rescue.
  • Step 2:
Familiarize yourself with the American Lo-Sze Pugg and be sure that you have the right space inside your rescue. The American Lo-Sze Pugg is a small dog and does not need lots of room to run, but it does need appropriate exercise. Most importantly, because they are a toy breed, these dogs need a great deal of socialization. Create a space that is safe for the American Lo-Sze Puggs to be in during the day, and create areas inside where they can be together in a group and also where people can interact with them. Be sure that your rescue is ready to go before you bring in the animals.
  • Step 3:
Contact local shelters and organizations in your city and state. Start with the Humane Society and work your way to the ASPCA or SPCA, depending on where you are. Also check with any city pounds and local shelters that might exist. Tell them that you are a American Lo-Sze Pugg rescue, and that they should refer any American Lo-Sze Puggs to you that need to be rescued.
  • Step 4:
Register with the American Lo-Sze Pugg breed nationally, by registering with either the UKC or AKC as a rescue organization. They will also put your name on lists of rescuers, which will be good advertisement for you.

Tips & Warnings

  • The American Lo-Sze Pugg needs more socialization than other dog breeds.
  • Don't put American Lo-Sze Puggs together without first assessing their temperaments.
