How to train your parrot

Things You’ll Need:

Treats for the parrot
An enclosed, safe room

Training

Step 1:
Start training sessions only when you are relaxed and are in the mood to train.
Step 2:
Choose to train your parrot when the bird is not focusing on eating. Make sure your parrot is in the mood to train, as well.
Step 3:
Find a treat that your parrot enjoys. You can use this as a reward.
Step 4:
Pick an area that is uncluttered but also secure. Close all doors and windows.
Step 5:
Understand your parrot's body language. Make sure you can tell when your bird is distressed, scared, or bored. This can help you know better how to train.
Step 6:
Use repetition. Whatever you are trying to teach your parrot, it will take several sessions of repeating the same action over and over until your parrot will understand what is expected of it.
Step 7:
Use positive training. Reward your parrot with treats and praise. Make sure your parrot feels love and positive vibes coming from you.
Step 8:
Be consistent. You will need to spend time training your parrot every day to make sure the training is cemented into its mind.

Tips & Warnings

Before any training can occur, it is important for your parrot to trust you. Spend time with your parrot, establishing a relationship.
Keep your training sessions short. Your bird will tire and lose focus otherwise.
