    Labrador puppies are high-energy dogs that need lots of exercise time. They can be clumsy, however, because they grow quickly.

    Labrador puppies are often born in litters of about six puppies. Each newborn puppy can weight as much as 1 lb.

Growth

    Labradors grow quickly from birth, gaining about 2 lbs. a week until they are about 26 weeks old. At that age, most Labrador puppies weigh about 50 to 60 lbs.

Activities

    Labradors were originally bred to swim to retrieve birds that had been hunted. Lab puppies love to swim, and can swim from the time they are just 5 weeks old.
