    Standard or average weight is 4 to 7 pounds with heights between 8 and 10 inches, however Maltese dogs have been known to weigh less than 4 pounds and as much as 12 pounds.

Appearance

    Maltese dogs have a slightly rounded head with black nose and eyes. The Maltese coat is single layer and lacks an undercoat. Although most are pure white, occasionally they may have cream-colored ears.
