How to Buy Designer Dog Beds

By eHow Pets Editor

Instructions

  • Step 1:
Consider the size of the dog bed. A Chihuahua is going to need a lot smaller bed than a Great Dane, and you also need to think about the space that you have for your dog bed.
  • Step 2:
Determine how the bed will be used. Consider whether your dog is only going to use the bed at home, or if it should be portable for travel. Also determine if the bed should be weather-proof, or if it will always be inside.
  • Step 3:
Be aware of your dog's personality quirks. If your dog chews on things, be sure that the bed can stand up to gnawing. If your dog tends to get dirty, you need to have a fabric that cleans easily.
  • Step 4:
Assess your dog's health. A dog bed can be very helpful with a dog that has some physical ailments. Make sure that the bed you purchase is agreeable with your dog's physical characteristics. A good looking bed that doesn't give the necessary support is useless.
  • Step 5:
Make sure the bed fits the décor of your home and the taste of your dog. A dog bed isn't simply a cushion on the floor; it's a place where your best friend gets rest and beauty sleep, and should be an extension of your dog's personality.
  • Step 6:
Shop away. You can browse pet stores, department stores or websites to find the perfect bed for your best friend (see Resources below).
