How to Feed Your Cat Pills Using Pill Pockets

Step 1:
Give your cat pill pocket treats without pills inside first to get him hooked on the treats. If your cat is finicky, give him an empty pill pocket every night to keep him familiar with the treat.
Step 2:
Break the pill pocket in half and only use half at a time if your cat breaks food apart when eating. Insert the pill into half of the pocket and then form the soft treat into a ball.
Step 3:
Use the whole pill pocket if the pill is large or if your cat eats food in large bites without breaking it apart.
Step 4:
Hold the treat between your thumb and forefinger and insert the pill into the pocket in the treat. Squeeze the top of the pocket closed so it seals.
Step 5:
Feed the treat to your cat with the pill sealed inside. Watch to make sure she eats the entire treat and does not spit the pill back out.

Tips & Warnings

If your cat gets a taste of the pill and discovers it inside the treat, the pill pockets might not trick him a second time. If this happens, go back to giving the cat empty pill pockets again for awhile until he forgets about the hidden pill and trusts the treats again.
