Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Natural bristle brush
  • Smooth glove
  • Cotton balls
  • Baby powder
  • Moisturizing lotion
  • Eye cleansing solution
  • Dog shampoo
  • Spray coat conditioner
  • Thinning shears
  • Nail clippers
  • Step 1:
Brush your Boston Terrier with a natural bristle brush or smooth glove once a week or so.
  • Step 2:
Clean your dog's facial wrinkles daily with a moist cotton ball, dry thoroughly and lightly apply baby powder to the areas. If the skin between his wrinkles is excessively dry or chapped, apply a small amount of moisturizing lotion, found in most pet stores.
  • Step 3:
Make sure to clean your Boston Terrier's large eyes daily with two to three drops of eye cleansing solution, which your vet can recommend. Check eyes for injuries, as large-eyed dogs are more prone to scratches and infections.
  • Step 4:
Check ears two to three times a week for dirt, ear mites or ticks. Boston Terriers have sensitive ears, which are prone to infection.
  • Step 5:
Bathe your Boston Terrier with regular dog shampoo only when dirty or when giving off excessive dog odor. Once dry, apply a spray coat conditioner to bring out the brightness of his coat.
  • Step 6:
Trim stray hairs with thinning shears only if they grow beyond their short, even coat or if different coat colors grow over each other.
  • Step 7:
Clip nails only at the tips once every two weeks using dog nail clippers. Avoid cutting the quick, the reddish brown part of the nail, as this causes pain and bleeding.
