How to Identify a European Burmese Cat

  • Step 1:
    Examine the body of the cat. The European Burmese has a more rounded body than a typical Oriental. The coat is glossy and smooth, almost satin-like. The coat is however very thick.
  • Step 2:
    Check the neck of the cat. European Burmese have a long neck as compared to the typical cat.
  • Step 3:
    Look at the face of the cat. The Burmese face is medium sized but has a wedge shape to it. The cheekbones tend to be high and they have a somewhat short nose.
  • Step 4:
    Look into the eyes of the cat. The Burmese eyes are slanted around the top like the Siamese parent but tend to be rounded on the bottom. They have golden yellow colored eyes.
  • Step 5:
    Examine the ears. Burmese have medium sized ears with rounded tips and tend to be wide at the base.
  • Step 6:
    Feel the tail of the cat. It will be long and tapering at the tip.
