How to Join a Hunter Jumper Association

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Membership fees
  • Step 1:
    Go to an online search engine. Type in your state and "hunter jumper association" and search.
  • Step 2:
    Click on the link taking you to the local association. Some of the larger states, such as California, will have regional associations, such as Northern, Southern or Central. Select what is most appropriate for you.
  • Step 3:
    Follow the website link(s) to apply for membership. Most are under titles such as "Join" or "Membership."
  • Step 4:
    Complete the application as instructed, making sure to include fees, and return to the address provided.
  • Step 5:
    Find the contact information for your local hunter jumper association in the phonebook or online. Call and request that membership information be sent in the mail.
  • Step 6:
    Join the hunter jumper association at a recognized local horse show. Visit the show office to pay your show fees, and request a membership form at that time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many hunter jumper associations offer both annual and lifetime membership options for rider and/or horse.
  • Make sure to register both rider and horse.
  • Whether or not you choose to join the hunter jumper association, browse their website to find the hunter jumper rules, show calendar, clinic opportunities and other helpful information.
