Instructions

  • Step 1:
Make your own dog treats by simply slicing up some hard cheese, a great source of protein and a treat your dog will love. Make sure you use a plain white cheese without dyes, and don't overfeed, as cheese is high in fat. You can also place cheese sticks in your freezer and give them to small puppies who are cutting teeth.
  • Step 2:
Cut up fresh carrot rounds, a healthy and semi-sweet treat that dog's are crazy for. Carrots are rich in vitamins and minerals that your dog needs, and you don't have to worry about excess fat or chemicals found in fresh veggies. Just make sure you do not feed your dog more than a cup or so of carrots in one day, as in large quantities they may have a slight laxative effect.
  • Step 3:
Slice an apple into small wedges and use as a training treat for your dog. Apples are both crunchy and sweet, two sensations your dog will love. Again, apple wedges can be frozen and used as soothing snacks for teething puppies. Don't feed your dog more than one apple per day.
  • Step 4:
Boost your pup's protein and use strips of chicken as your treats. No dog on the planet has ever turned down a juicy strip of chicken, making it a fantastic training aid. If you prefer a meaty treat that doesn't crumble as much as chicken, you might consider boiling and baking chicken livers.
