Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • A dried pine cone
  • Four feet of string
  • Peanut butter
  • A spoon
  • Birdseed
  • A plate
  • Step 1:
Tie one end of the string to the top of the pine cone.
  • Step 2:
Lay the pine cone on the plate, and lay the string over the rim of the plate to one side.
  • Step 3:
Take a spoonful of peanut butter and gently smear it over the face of the pine cone, leaving the base peanut-butter-free. Set the pine cone to one side.
  • Step 4:
Pour about one cup of birdseed onto the plate.
  • Step 5:
Pick up the pine cone and roll it over the birdseed so the seed sticks to the peanut butter.
  • Step 6:
Now your bird feeder is ready to hang. Find a low branch and tie the unattached end of string around it. Make sure to adjust the string's length so the feeder is at least 4 feet from the ground.
  • Step 7:
Enjoy watching local birds (and squirrels) benefit from your new pine cone bird feeder.
