How to Pacify a Dog

Instructions

  • Step 1:
Give him an interactive toy. Rawhide bones, squeaky newspapers and stuffed animals won't do the trick every time. Pacify a dog with a toy that is stuffed with food or treats. These will keep him occupied for longer periods of time while he tries to extract the goodies.
  • Step 2:
Send him on a scavenger hunt. Hide some well-loved treats or toys in a box and let him get a good whiff before you hide it. The hunt will begin and give you some time until he finds it.
  • Step 3:
Hang fun treats and toys in low hanging branches for larger dogs. They will enjoy jumping and trying to catch these treats. Even if they succeed in extracting the treat from the tie, it will still pacify the dog for a bit longer while he plays with his sought after toy.
  • Step 4:
Install agility courses in your yard. For incredibly active dogs, the obstacles are perfect. Once they have learned the courses and routes through each of them, they will amuse themselves with the exercises.
  • Step 5:
Pacify a dog with a bone. If these are infrequent treats, he will be overjoyed and content with chewing on a rawhide or nylabone for hours.
