How to Pick the Right Puppy for You

Instructions

  • Step 1:
Research breeds and see what kind of temperament is good for you. Can you manager a hyper pup or do you need low-maintenance? If you have children, you will want a dog that is even-tempered and not aggressive. Make sure you do your homework before impulsively picking up a pooch from the lady in the grocery store parking lot.
  • Step 2:
Size matters, so think about it. Consider whether you live in tight quarters more suitable for a lap dog or have ample room for a large mutt to roam. More importantly, which do you prefer?
  • Step 3:
Also consider special needs such as grooming. Long-haired dogs will need much more upkeep than short-hair breeds. In other cases, some dogs are more prone to certain health conditions.
  • Step 4:
Spend time with the potential pick of the litter before taking him home. Play a little bit and see if the potential for bonding is there. If you are picking from a litter, notice which one comes running at your first or pays more attention to you than the others do.
