How to Visit the Maryland Zoo

Instructions

  • Step 1:
    Pay only for admission at the Maryland Zoo. While visiting the zoo, you can park your vehicle in their lot free of charge.
  • Step 2:
    Speak to one of the zookeepers. They are available at select times to answer any questions that you may have about the animals.
  • Step 3:
    Visit Base Camp Discovery. This center is one of the newest buildings at the zoo. It is an educational facility meant to teach guests about wildlife and their natural habitats.
  • Step 4:
    See the polar bears and penguins at their exhibit. If you want to check out the penguins before your visit, you can see them online with the zoo's Penguin Cam.
  • Step 5:
    Drop by the African Watering Hole. It houses zebras, giraffes and much more.
  • Step 6:
    Take the kids on a hayride. Hayrides take you through the woods surrounding the Maryland Zoo. There is no extra fee for the hayrides.

Tips & Warnings

  • The zoo was known as the Baltimore Zoo until a few years ago when it changed its name to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.
  • There are several concessions located throughout the Maryland Zoo. Pizza, chicken, burgers and hot dogs are available for purchase. You can also bring in your own food and eat at the zoo's picnic areas.
