How to Win a Double Dutch Competition

Step 1:
Tryout and make a Double Dutch team by completing performance qualifying requirements. Some requirements include single rope compulsory and Double Dutch compulsory.
Step 2:
Create a competition qualifying routine with a coach and team members. Coaches typically create teams based on similar skill levels and age. Teams must have endurance, agility and creativity in order to successfully compete.
Step 3:
Include a variety of steps in terms of creativity and difficulty in the competition routine. Examples of interesting steps to include are the turnaround, touching the ground, criss cross, the washing machine, mamba and pop-ups.
Step 4:
Attend all team practices to enhance skills. Some coaches may require jumpers to attend three to four practices a week. Participate in shows, camps and clubs in order to continue jumping proficiency and polish your presentation skills. The National Double Dutch League offers camps and competitions.
Step 5:
Practice different components of competition from freestyle to speed. Discover which event best suits which team members. For example, in the speed category a winning jumper completes more than 300 steps in a minute that a judge counts using a clicker.
