InstructionsThings You’ll Need:TreatsclickerStep 1:Watch your dog carefully when you go to take him out of the kennel. He should be settled down with all four paws on the floor and not barking. If he is behaving properly, click and toss a treat into the kennel.Step 2:If your dog is jumping or barking, then just stand there and wait a few minutes for her to calm down. If she does settle down, then click and reward her.Step 3:If your dog still won’t settle down, walk away from the kennel and then return a few seconds later to try again. The goal is to teach him that calm gets attentionStep 4:Use your body to block the kennel door as you enter. It will prevent your dog from running out.Step 5:Have a treat in your hand has you enter. Click and reward if your dog remains calm. However, if he loses control, back out and start over.Step 6:Once your dog is calm with all four on the floor, click and treat, then put on the leashStep 7:Make sure your dog is sitting or standing as you get ready to exit. If she starts to jump or bark, take your hand off the door and step back. Once her self control is back, click and treat.Step 8:When it comes time to return your dog to the kennel, ask him to sit. Click and praise if he complies.Tips & WarningsBe patient. While training can be time consuming, it does work and in the end makes your dog more appealing and approachable.The more often you click and treat, the quicker your dog will learn.Don’t dominate or try to force your dog to obey.
