Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

• Dog
•
Delectable treats
•
Clicker
• Step 1:
Get your dog’s attention by making sure he knows you have some yummy treats. Also let him sniff the clicker so he knows what it is.
• Step 2:
Once he’s standing and looking at you, hold the treat above his head, so he has to look up and sit down to reach it.
• Step 3:
Just as his bottom hits the floor, click the clicker and give him the treat.
• Step 4:
Repeat 6 times until he’s solid in his response, then phase out the treat so he knows the clicker noise is the "treat" he’s going for.
• Step 5:
Make the clicker sit exercise a daily practice until it’s fully ingrained.

Tips & Warnings

• Yummy treats for dogs include small chunks of cheese or turkey dogs.
•
When trained enough with a clicker, some dogs will go ga-ga at the mere sight of it when you bring it out.
• Never use the clicker as a reprimand. The clicky noise should only be associated with good things.
•
Don’t leave the clicker laying around where a curious dog can kidnap it and chew it into a million clicky pieces.
