Pancreatic Insufficiency Symptoms in Dogs

By Yvette Marie

Instructions

Weight Loss

  • Step 1:
You will notice that your dog undergoes a rapid loss of weight. This is due to muscle atrophy and loss of body fat.

Diarrhea

  • Step 1:
Your dog will have chronic diarrhea, that will vary from very loose to completely liquid stools. The feces will typically be light yellow to clay colored, and depending on your dog's diet, may contain large quantities of undigested fat.

Abnormal Appetite

  • Step 1:
Your dog will appear to be constantly hungry, above what is normal for dogs. He may begin to eat odd things such as dirt, plants or even his own stool.

Flatulance

  • Step 1:
You will notice that your dog has an extraordinary amount of gas. You may hear a "rumbling" sound coming from her stomach or intestines.

Poor Coat Quality

  • Step 1:
Your dog's coat may begin to deteriorate. His fur may become dry, thin or lose it's shine.
