    Since 1899, Miniatures Schnauzers have been an official, distinct breed.

Breed Mixing

  • Step 1:
    The Miniature Schnauzer comes from the mixing of Affenpinschers and Poodles with standard Schnauzers.

Appearance

  • Step 1:
    As part of the Terrier group, Miniature Schnauzers are recognizable by their wiry coats, stocky build and furry legs. They can be gray or black and silver.

Family Dogs

  • Step 1:
    This breed of dogs is family friendly, hardy and intelligent. Originally used as a small farm dog, it has adapted to be a great indoor pet.

Breeding

  • Step 1:
    Miniature Schnauzer breeding started in the United States in 1925 and the American Miniature Schnauzer Club began in 1933.
