Bart was adopted at 1 year old from the Humane Society. This big headed guy was really a "Gentle Giant", he weighed 160 lbs!! God took him back home when he was 15 years old. He helped bring me through a divorce. He was originally my 1st husbands dog. After I got rid of my husband, Bart stayed on with me. I was so depressed and emotional that I did not notice that Bart was just as equally depressed as me. When I would let him in the house at night, he would run right by me as though I wasn't even there, to go looking for his "daddy". When he could not find him, he would come back into the room with me with his head hung down!! I never knew that dogs could be depressed let alone show it. NONE OF MY PRIOR OR PRESENT DOGS HAVE EVER HAD ANYTHING TO BE SAD ABOUT!! After looking for his "daddy" for a month or so, he stopped running by me at the door and greated me instead. I knew then that he now accepted me as his "mommy", and he no longer gave "daddy" a thought. Bart was a real character!! He knew he was BIG, and he used to tease people. I would walk him at the park, and sometimes he would stick his big ol' head into someones car as we passed. You could just imagine the look on their face!! Other times he would "gallop" across the field towards a family, they would all scatter and hide in or on their car. He would get within 3 or 4 feet of them and just pee on a tree and then turn around and gallop the other direction. At that time I drove a Dodge Omni, and Bart would often sit on the back seat and stick his head out the window, as you can imagine his head took up the ENTIRE window!! Once when driving down the street I stopped at a stop sign, and let a little girl cross in front of my car. Well the person behind me could not see why I was stopped for the 3 or 4 seconds that it took for the little girl to pass in front of my car. He proceeded to get out of his car yelling and wagging his finger at me. Bart was lying down on the back seat, as the man approached my car, he stood up. He was SO big that he took up the entire back seat!!! WELL when he stoop up and his head went out one window and his tail went out the other, the man turned a 180 so quick and ran back in his car.!! It was the funniest thing I'd ever saw. To this day I can still picture that mans face as Barts big ol' head protruded out the window!! I miss you Bart....we will see each other one day!! Love mommy
