All in the Family

THE ULTIMATE BULLY SURVIVOR I am sure you have heard of the show Survivor? Well, if there were a show called Survivor Bulldogs I would qualify. I am a 5 year old female named Bertha and I have been through a lot, but am still standing and in the best shape of my life. I cant remember a lot about the first part of my life, but lets just say it could have been better. When I arrived at CEBR I was clearly in need of both physical and emotional attention. Now I am spayed and my facial folds and eyes are finally getting some attention. Actually Im pretty perky these days post-surgery and taking daily walks which I enjoy immensely. A girl has to keep a trim figure you know. But most of all, the attention I am getting has brought me out of my shell. I love just being in the same room with my caretakers and of course the more they want to shower me with attention the more I love it. Ok, call me the love sponge. (Now I know what I missed during the first years of my life when I was more or less a vagabond and being shuttled through several different homes.) I love to spend my evenings snoozing in the family room while they read or watch TV. Then I go into my crate at night. I like it in there. Its cozy. My caretakers keep asking me about my vocal cords. I am not sure what they mean, but they say I never bark. Guess I am just super quiet. Since leaving my past behind I have really enjoyed being in a quiet home with other bullies. No kids around here but I think I would enjoy being with older children the more attention the better! I am housebroken, but I have a small confession. I used to be left alone for long periods of time and just generally ignored. So in frustration I would make a pee in the house. This was more to get attention and blow off some steam than anything else. If you let me out frequently enough, I get the picture!! And if you are not sure and are going to be away from the house for several hours, I dont mind going in my crate. I can always take a beauty nap. Snoring is included! I have no allergies or special food needs, so thats a relief. I do look sort of longingly at you while you are having your dinner, but I do not beg. But lets face it I need lots of daily attention in terms of getting my eye meds and having my facial folds thoroughly wiped. Pretty much basic bulldog maintenance. I know my name and *mostly* come when I am called. I can sit and stay (sometimes). But if you treat me consistently, I pick up on things pretty fast (like the fact that Im not allowed into the dining room! Got it. Check!) I would love someone who would take the time to teach me some more commands because I aim to please. And by the way, I am microchipped so you will never ever lose me. Lastly, I dont seem to shed very much and with my white fur, thats a real plus!! When you see me, you will notice from my figure that I have had several litters of puppies in the past and frankly, am glad my pup-bearing years are at an end. I just want to be in a stable home with lots of love, attention, care, and, oh yeah, some really great dog treats, maybe a bone and some chew toys
