We adopted Daisy from the DE SPCA. It was obvious that she had been previously abused. The SPCA said Daisy had been with 8 different owners before we got her. She was only 14 months old. We learned quickly after adopting her she had a lot of emotional problems. She was very anxious all the time. She would get scared by any loud noise. She was completely mute and didn't make a sound the first year we had her. She would also submissively urinate whenever she heard a loud noise or someone she didn't know approached her. We had our work cut out for us but we gave her all the love we could and... here we are 6 years later. No doubt she is a completely different dog. She now barks with confidence. She hasn't had an accident in years and though she's still a little anxious from time to time... nothing scares her. 2 years ago... we got Daisy a puppy (cause we thought she could use a friend). She never did well with large dogs as she was very intimidated. So we brought home Scrappy, a small jack russle/ pug mix. They bonded and are now completely attached to one another.
