All in the Family

Biography: This is Dexter our J.R.T. Piper's 17th baby. He is very special to us because, his was to be, the first litter that we had decided that we would keep one of the puppies. We decided this, because, tragically, we had just lost our beloved 7yr. old Huskey, Jasper, to cancer, two months prior to his birth. He came as quite the surprise to us because, believe it or not, Dexter, was the only puppy born to the litter, when all of the other litters, had been 5 puppies min. 6 puppies max, although, she was the same size as she usually was, at her birthing date? We noticed right away, that he was twice the size, as the newborn puppies usually are, we were still not convinced, that he was all there was so we rushed Piper to the vet, in a panic, fearing the rest of the litter, was stuck inside, without any birthing fluid, or oxygen! Only SURPRISE! Dexter was all there was, this was strange coincidence number one. The reason is because we have always said, it would break our heart, to have to choose only one puppy from the litter to keep and we would never be able to agree on the same one. It would be an awful challenge, as love all of our puppies, as our own and make them, part of the family, until they find families. We tend to love each and every one of them, only, each for a different reason. They all have their individual, endearing qualities . Now, if all of that wasn't unusual enough, the story gets even stranger. We decided on a few of our, "favorite features" ,from past puppies and created a wish list. We were hoping, that the puppy we decided to keep, would possess at least, one or two features from this list. When he came out, he had circle marking around his eye, this, was the first on our "favorite feature" wish list. He is a Tri-Color, this, was second, on our wish list. He is male, this was third and he has a smooth coat and this was the fourth favorite feature, of the only four things that we had on our wish list!!! Dexter has continued, to shock us, each and every day, with his extreme intelligence, grace, beauty, gentle happy-go-lucky behavior. Also, his silly personality, keeps us constantly laughing and entertained. He has brought joy back into our family, as well, he has helped us move on, from our grief stricken state. If it is, at all possible, I would believe that, Jasper our husky sent him down to us.
