Dixie was a Aussie/GSD mix that we got when she was 9 months old. She was friendly, protective and obedient. She would go nuts whenever we brought the saddles out to ride, that was her favorite thing to do. She loved kids and when our 3 yr boy tried to ride her, she was great. Never would hurt a child at all even when she had cancer and was in pain she would lay on the front porch and beg the kids to come play with her. We lost her 9 years ago and still love her very much.

Sorry about the loss. One of my dogs had cancer and due to the pain, we had to put her under.

I feel so sorry for you. I just went through the same thing. My old dog (that passed) was also named Dixie!
