This is Ginger. Miss Ginger was adopted into our family in August 2008 from the local Animal Shelter. I can remember going to the Humane Society that day and having no intention on adopting a dog. I frequently visit the animal shelters here and spend time with the dogs, bring them treats, and just help out. But that day in the very back row of kennels was a small, chubby, gray faced little girl. She was curled up in the back of the kennel and wouldn't even get up to say hi. I could tell she was part boxer right away and at that moment my heart strings began to tug. They said she was roughly eight to ten years old and her story wasn't one of the happiest. Ginger was found wandering the streets as a stray. From her condition and temperament, she'd been living as a stray for over 6 months. And when she was found, they realized that she had been previously owned. She was housebroken, spayed, and sweet towards people, but after so many months of neglect and fighting for food. Ginger arrived at the Humane Society covered in dog fighting scars and was incredibly food aggressive towards other animals. When I heard Gingers story, I immediately rushed home and told my mother about this little old boxer. At first she said no because one dog was enough, but I told her lets just go look. Lets see if Logan, our first boxer, gets along with her. So we did. And on our way to the Humane Society, my mom specifically said "We are NOT adopting a dog today. We are looking, that is it." Later that day she came home with us and has been here ever since. Ginger went from fighting with our first dog every day to no longer being food aggressive. She's able to be around other dogs now without a worry or care in the world. She has also made a great companion for Logan. Ginger is the sweetest little old lady in the world and I wouldn't trade her for anything.
