I have had my labrador Hunter for 3 years now. He never stops amazing me how smart he is. I have taught Hunter over 40 tricks and hand signals without using a professional trainer. I have to say he is a very obidient dog. He learned his first trick "sit" at 6 weeks old, he got it at the first try. I awarded him with a treat and he was hooked. He even recognizes each idividual toy he has such as "squeeky" "ducky" "ball" "football" "rope" "fuzzy" "frisbee" and "ghost." I have taught him these idividual tricks over a lengthly period of time it has taken me 3 years but I'm almost there lol. Hunter was actually supposed to be a Search and Rescue Dog but we never got him trained. I have also taught him how to find his toys using mayonaise or katsup rub it on the toy to get the scent. Put in on the floor and take it to say the cabinet or the closet. Then I let him smell a bit of the toy and tell him to "find it" or to "search" he will then look everywhere for the toy where I guide him. He then will sit when he gets the scent. I'm very pleased to have taught him this. Since it is fairly hard to teach a dog to find something if you don't have alot of time.
