All in the Family
Jasmine *(Jaz)

It was December 13th, 2008 when my mom and I were looking through the window of a Christian store browsing for gifts for the family, as Christmas was just around the corner. We were just about to open the door as a woman obviously sruggling to walk 3 or 4 dogs at once stopped to take a brake. Turns out she was excersing the dogs available for adoption at Petsmart, adjacent to the store we were about to enter. Attempting to help, I walked over to the woman. Immediately, a small blonde dog as cute as can be jumped and put his front paws right on my legs. I asked the woman what "her" name was, and she said that she didn't know but she invited us to see some of the rescue dogs inside the store. I thanked her and continualy asked my mom while shopping if we could go see the new puppies. She finally gave in. We went to the back of Petsmart, looking for that one special pup. We finally found "Jack" in a large crate in the back of the store. The man opened his cage and he immediately started cuddling with me on the floor. The man told us that the adoption foundation that he was with got an important call from the pound stating that, "We can't destroy this dog. He's done nothing wrong and we need you to pick him up in the next 15 minutes or else he will have to be put down by law" Feeling so overwhelmed with emotion, I couldn't help but start crying. I felt that this dog had something special about him... almost like he had a specific purpose. Upon returning home, my mom and I told my dad the whole story that i just told, and told us to go back and buy that dog. The car ride to the store, we brainstormed names for our soon-to-be-new dog. My brother said "Jacob" like the warewolf (from Twilight), but we soon concluded that since it was near Christmas, we'd call him "Jake Jingles". Jake got along great with our other dog Jasmine and we made the decision to take him home. Shortly after taking him home, we found out that he was very very sick. He also had no fur under his neck because a rope had dug into his skin. After many months of rehabilitation and training, Jake is acting like a healthy 3-year-old again!! Jake has been a cute & quirky addition to the family. He is or Canine Comic Relief! He often hides under my parents' bed, (which my dad appropritely named "Jake's Condo") and when he wants something, he will put his little puppy paws in the air like he's praying! We don't know Jake's back story, all we know is, we saved a life and we're so glad we did!!!

Okay, honestly, I didn't read your whole story because I will literally start to cry if I hear about any dog being in pain for even a second. But, I just have to tell you that I am totally and completely a melted puddle from Jake's cuteness. OMG!!! He is beyond words. That face is JUST killing me. Something about him reminds me of my dog Jiffy, too, if you wanna take a look. I am sure you are loving him every second. What a doll!!!!

I read Jake's bio, and it did make me cry. I cried because this sweet boy was within minutes of being euthanized, but also because you and your family were so loving and good to take him in and give him a chance at a happy life. Bless you all. Lots of hugs for this sweet little guy. Happy birthday to him and lots of treats. :)
