KD is a happy, healthy Pit Bull/Vizsla/Beagle mix. At first, her life was rough. She was thrown out of a car window on the highway at the age of eight months. She appeared to have heartworms. A saint found her and took her to a local animal shelter a few miles away. Meanwhile, my family and I were shopping at REI when out of the ordinary, and my dad felt an impulse to go look at the dogs at the shelter. Of course us kids were bouncing off the walls with this sudden decision. I never thought of getting a dog that day. It just happened. We fostered her until her heartworms cleared; and immediatley adopted her. Now, she loves to chase squirrels, bury bones, and go to the dog park. KD is a very smart dog. She can sit down, stay, lie down, sit pretty, spin, roll over, come, shake, high five and ten, and bark on command. She also knows the words "Walk" "Bone" "Go sit down" "Treat" "Go get your toy" and "Go in the car." We have all come a long way since that brisk March day. It was our destiny to go there. I'm sure glad we did!
