Lucie, a hound mix, came into our lives when she was about two-years-old. She was a rescue dog that was up for adoption at the shelter that was not a no-kill shelter. Her status at the shelter was critical, because she was almost due to be euthanized. Lucie had a rough puppyhood. When we got her we learned that she had been kept on an extremely short leash so to fight boredom, she chewed on her metal chain. As a result, most of her front teeth are gone or damaged. At some point in time she has had a broken leg that wasn't fixed properly, so she has a limp. When she arrived at our house she had sores all over from laying in the dirt for hours and hours. Mercifully, she was taken from her original owners because of this abuse. Needless to say she is living a much better life with us. She is the sweetest and best dog. Everyone that sees her love her spots. Our favorite thing about Lucie is when she howls.
