On July 2, 2000 I have met The Love Of My Life. It was late afternoon in NYC, and she was the last puppy of her litter being on sale all day on a side walk of Upper West Side behind the Museum of Natural Histoty. Her body was stretched on a blanket belly up, her eyes closed. I scoopped her into my hands and said: " This is my Lucy. How much?" The sales lady with exhausted face and too much makeup replied: "$100! And I cropped the tail for you for free already" I demanded my then husband to pay the puppy-miller, which he wouldn't have done if he did not make a complete a.. of himself the night before. I never put my puppy back down on the blanket. She was 6 weeks of age... 10 years later, men came and gone, my Lucy is still The Best Thing that ever happened to me. I joke with my friends and call her "The Best Marriage I Ever Had". In sickness and in health, in good times of stability and hardship of unemployment, any season, place, and situation, my Lucy has been my best friend and my guardian angel. She loves all people without discrimination of age, color, or sexual orientation. She will let any baby do anything with her and just kiss baby's hands. She can walk throughout city holding her leash in her mouth and wagg her tailless butt to everyone. She brings a toy in her mouth to anyone who rings our door bell, and our mailman adores her! She understands so many words and can do so many things on command, it is almost scary! She thinks she is a person, and I am almost convinced she is my reincarnated mother. I would like to share with you my daily prayer: " Thank you Lord for there were two best dogs in a whole world and you gave them both to me! Amen."
