We got this sweet boy when he was only 8 weeks old. He was a French Mastiff, aka Dogue De Bordeaux. At only 20 months old we lost him. He had eaten something that made him sick. We took Remy to an Emergency Animal Hospital, because it was 4th of July weekend, and our regular vet was closed. The xray showed that his intestines were blocked with too much gas. They said he needed emergency surgery. After two hours of surgery, the Vet Tech came out and said he was doing fine. He said it would only be another 15 min. while the attending Vet stitched him up. Then the Vet Tech left the premises. When the attending Vet came out to the waiting room, she said to me, "I'm sorry, but I don't have good news." I was stunned! I couldn't believe that after all that, my precious Remy just slipped away. Why did she let her assistant leave? Who was monitoring the anesthesia? I am totally convinced that this was negligence on their part. But what could I do at that point. She asked me if I wanted an autopsy performed. That wasn't going to bring back my Remy, so I said no thanks. I will never get over my loss of the best guy in the world. He was truly the best of the best!
