My family and I adopted Sabina from a local SPCA, after the sudden death of our beloved Maltese. We're not exactly sure what she is breed-wise. Her shelter papers say she is a GSD X Red Heeler; however, many believe she is a Carolina Dog [North American Dingo X Sighthound] (as was "confirmed" by a reputable 'CD' breeder). [I have been telling people she is a Carolina Dog, when they ask, as that is what I truly believe she is.] Sabina is a very active lady. She loves going for early morning swims in our pond right before coming to wake me up (which is a rude awakening for me). She is a huge Frisbee fanatic, loves to play-wrestle, herds our chickens, likes going for runs, and after a hard day of running around, loves to settle down as a [rather big]lap dog. Going from a 6lb dog to a 55lb dog was a huge jump for us; however Sabina has settled into our home wonderfully and has truly become a valuable and loved member of our family.

The dog my son adopted "Otis" is Sabrina's twin! He's from LA and has the largest ears ever. You can see him at www.grubman.com when you click on the small pic of the dog. (The wires and color in his ears were Photoshopped...but his ears are really that large!)

When I saw the pictures of Sabina it was like I was looking at my own dog Lucy. What a remarkable resemblance. I now know her other half, cattle dog or American dingo. Her other half is definately shepherd. Let me know if you would like to see a picture of her.

Definitely "Carolina Dog". My Charley was part/all Carolina Dog. We adopted from the local pound so she had the generic "lab/shepherd" label. Then we saw an article in "Smithsonian" magazine and began reading up on the breed. Sabina is absolutely lovely. I hope she has a much personality as my Charley did.
