All in the Family

Beagle / Dachshund

Savannah came into our lives just after being weened and while we may think we picked her from several other puppies from the litter; in truth she picked me. So tiny and wirey, I laid down on the floor to get a better look and she walked over immediately to me and began kissing my nose. She was funny and playful, loving and devoted and very protective. One evening she lay in bed with my wife and I, right next to my shoulders and was going through her nightly ritual of a kissing marathon before turning out the light. My wife leaned over and playful said, "don't get that sugar, that's my sugar"! Savannah looked up and growled at her, and immediately went back to laying claim to my "sugar" that night. I lost her 2 years ago last month after 14 years and was broken hearted for weeks over her passing. She'd been sick the last year, but now she's waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for my arrival one day.

Thank you so much, I still have empty spot in my heart since her passing and still haven't gotten over it yet. The night she passed away, my wife and I were rushing her to the vet when she died in my arms. Already I'm in tears telling you this, I miss the most incredible friend and companion.
