Rottweiler / Siberian Husky

Wyatt was a short-lived member of my family but he will forever be a member of my heart. I walked into the dog shelter and browsed for a bit, then I stopped in front of his kennel. He was 10 months old and already weighed about 100lbs. He had deep brown eyes and a big smile on his sweet face. He jumped up and started trying to lick my fingers through the fence. After filling out the application, I rode the whole way home in the back seat of the car with him. When we got home, he was so excited. We played fetch for a few hours. At one point, being a big goofy pup, he ran head first into the fence. He loved to cuddle and thought himself a lap dog. The next day, Wyatt began acting sick and started throwing up. The shelter assured us he was too old to have parvo and they decided he probably had kennel cough. We took him to the vet and sure enough, he tested positively for parvovirus. He got sick so quickly and the vet decided it would be in his best interest to put him to sleep. Though he wasn't in my life very long, I am forever grateful for the days I did have him. I'm happy that his last days on Earth were in a home where he was loved, rather than in a kennel. He passed away with a heart full of love and most importantly, a family. I'll never forget him.
