Sammie's mom says: We adopted Sammie when she was eight months old. She had been abandoned twice already -- she was first found on the side of the road and later was surrendered by her owners who couldn't have her in a new condo. The day we saw her, we knew that she was meant to be with us. We were told she was a German shepherd / beagle mix, but as she grew a bit bigger we recognized the pit bull in her face. Sammie is an energetic little lady with a lot of love to share. She absolutely loves to run! Whether it is chasing a ball, a frisbee, another dog, or a squirrel, she will run until she collapses. Her all time favorite thing is to curl up in bed or on the couch with us. Because of Sammie's history, she doesn't like to be left alone. But after a few minutes of barking, she is fine, and we always get a big welcome when we get home. Sammie is our baby girl -- we can't remember what life was like without her. Even with the challenges that often come with adopting a dog, we simply love her to pieces. I think she would say the same thing about us!
Sammie is a sweetie, and no matter what is mixed with that shepherd she looks like a happy well adjusted dog. thanks for giving her a home. We have a beagle mix (who might be part pit or rat terrier) we adopted at 10 months that had been rejected before too and she is the most lovable thing.
Sammie is absolutely beautiful and absolutely the luckiest dog to have someone like you come along and save her life. Here's to many years of health, happiness and love with her, you all deserve it!!!

Much love to Sammie's parents for taking a chance on a mixed breed rescue dog, and a big one at that. (So many pit bull mixes in the shelters—breaks my heart!) Sammie is beautiful, and she looks like a lot of fun. :)
THIS is what I love to see...a dog that is loved and taken places that dogs love! Some of the best dogs in the world take two or three tries to find their best person.
I can't agree with the Pittie mix theory, wouldn't her jaw and scull be wider, chest thicker? We love to puzzle out what could be the parentage when it couldn't matter any less. She's lovely! Her smile, and the exotic eye liner, tres chic!

Sylvanbliss, I have to disagree. She seriously looks like a pit in the face, and she don't have to have the pit's broad chest and other purely pit bull traits, cause... (no offense meant, really) DUR! She's a mix! She's got bits of both!
Anyhow, an absolutely beautiful dog, and I'm glad to see a forest dog at a lake - most of these water shots are at oceans...! Enjoy her! :D

I just had to add my two cents. I just had to click on Sammie's picture b/c when I saw her, I thought "Aww, a Pittie mix!" My hubby and I have 2 (in addition to 6 other breeds & mixes) and would have a dozen more if we had the space!
Sammie is beautiful! The best of each mix she has running through her, whatever they may be!

Sammie is absolutly adorable!!!!! I love all dogs and think they are all so cute but there is something about Sammie that makes me want to be able to reach thru my computer and hug her. Sammie looks like a lot of fun! I think you are right about the pit bull in the mix. Her smile reminds me of my Staffordshire Bull Terrier. So glad you could give her a loving home: she certainly looks like she is making the most of every minute!
Sammie is a gorgeous rescue! we rescued a black and tan beagle mix who looks identical to Sammie, except for the ears. Our Shelby definately has beagle ears, but the coloring, legs, nose and body type are all exactly the same! And I definately recognize that "smiling" face; they are definately the happiest dogs!
