Dog Breed: Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Bailey says: "Hi, my name is Bailey and I'm a Chesapeake Bay retriever. I love swimming, fetching, going for walks, chewing on bones, and most of all, my owners. I love to protect them from danger and to cuddle up with them when it's cold out. I love to entertain them for hours by chasing balls or sticks. My owners always tell me that I don't know how big I am when I try to sit on them but I don't know what they mean. I think I fit on their laps just fine. I'm a very happy dog and I think I make my owners very happy too."

Bailey, your nose is the exact same color as your coat. This makes my toes curl from sheer amazement. You couldn't be any more adorable. I am sure you fit just fine on your owner's laps. My big dog fits on my lap. He is very heavy, but technically speaking, he fits. If your doggy bottom fits on your owner's legs, that is technically sitting in a lap. Regardless of where the rest of your doggie limbs and body are, if your tail and a back leg are on that lap, you can consider yourself a lap-dog.

these breed of dogs are good for constantly crapping in ones house, even after being taken outside for 15 to 20 minutes several times a day and several times a night everyday even if they are trained properly to use the outdoors as there bathroom time, I am ready to get rid of mine now and it is only 5 months old

Please Tania give your puppy a chance. I don't think you were potty trained at 5 months old but hey ask your mom, I don't think she had plans to get rid of you. Juila you are so right! Any dog can be a lap dog as long as the tail and a back leg are on the lap then they can stay on and be known as a lap dog! I LOVE dogs with brown noses they are so cute and adorable and all the ones I have met have been the sweetest! I LOVE you Bailey!

Gee-- I sure hope 'tania's' pup found a new owner that will have more patience and love for it and I hope tania found a dog that they can love- I think puppies can sense when they are not love and therefore do not learn as quickly

Bailey Boo! We don't see many Chesapeake Bay Retrievers out here on the west coast. I made a right fool of myself when I saw a man with two at our Vet's office! Terrific dogs, so easily trained. Mine never "crapped" in the house, even as a very young pup. I miss him every day and it's been nearly six years since his last breath.

You are a very handsome Chessy, Bailey! I hope you get to swim often and have a great life!

What a handsome dog! We had a Chessy named Thomas who we put to sleep 3 years ago (the anniversary was actually just a few days ago). Bailey looks just like him and it brought tears to my eyes to see such a beautiful dog. He seems like a wonderful and happy dog, enjoy him!

I was the proud owner of a Chessie for about 16 years. He was the best dog I have ever encountered. My gentle giant, Flap. I miss him every day. I hope Bailey brings you the same love that Flap showed my family for so many years.
