Calypso the dog says: "Hey guys!! My name is Calypso. I'm a really sweet girl, and incredibly smart. I can wave, bow, high-five, sit, lay down, and smile, but I don't come when called. Oh well, nobody's perfect, right? My person, Leirin, adopted me from the animal shelter during her 7th grade summer. I was a little shy at first, but I eventually came out of my shell. Strangers freak me out a little, but as long as they leave me alone, they're fine. Normally I'm a pretty relaxed, easy-going dog, but I can be kinda crazy at times. I love sleeping on Leirin's bed, and I hop right on it as soon as she leaves for school. She catches me sometimes, but I don't think she really cares. Well, that's pretty much all there is to know about me!!"

She is gorgeous! I bet she sleeps in your bed while you are gone because she misses you when you are away!! Between my two dogs I have 150lbs of warmth in bed with me every night! I wish you many long happy years with Calypso! Great name to!

'Doesn't come when called'?

Sounds like an Arctic dog trait. Probably the Husky in her.

I had an Alaskan Malamute that didn't always come when called. Now I have a Spitz Klein [small Spitz] and he doesn't come running either.... Although with some treats we are working on that right now..

You don't come when you're called??? Sounds like you are having the same problem my ShihTzu has - it's called "selective hearing". Just say the word "cookie" and he's by my side almost faster than I can say it.
You're still a very pretty girl - no matter what!!!!

Wow, Calypso is gorgeous! I'll bet it's hard for the strangers to leave her alone--she is so beautiful and unusual that I'll bet everyone wants to pet her. (Well, I know I would!!) Her fur, coloring, and markings are just amazing!

Sounds like my three year old Bugzy, who's a Boston Terrier.

I have a 20 pound black cat who not only listens but does as he's told. The dogs....not so much.

I have a dog named Pinecone that I was gifted with 15 years ago that I was told was a Husky Poodle mix. She looks remarkably similar to Calypso. I was often told she held a resemblance to an Australian Sheppard.
