In 2009, I brought home my first shelter dog. I had always owned large dogs and decided to find something smaller. I searched on Petfinder until I noticed Chrissy, who had been in her shelter's prison program for nearly a year. She had been found as a stray and no one had shown any interest in her. I drove 3 hours to meet her and knew she was the one. She has a Napoleon Complex and she thinks she's bigger than the other dogs, but what she doesn't have in size she makes up for in personality. She is the queen of the house. Sometimes she completely ignores me while other times she'll inch her way up to me in my bed so she can curl up and cuddle. I love her more than life itself and I couldn't imagine not coming home to her greeting me at the door every day.
