Coach's mom says: Coach and I live in Chicago and we have lived together for a year and a half now. I rescued Coach from the local animal control facility, where he was left by his previous owners. He was abused, frightened, and hungry. Now he's happy, energetic, and very friendly! Nobody seemed to want Coach at the shelter because he was so afraid. He cowered into the corner of the cage and didn't want to greet any passerby. I'm surprised that it was the same dog that I have today!

Coach looks like he is living the happy life for sure! What an awesome story, I wish there were more stories like this one. You seem to be a wonderful companion and caregiver to coach! Yay!! Great story. I helped my parents pick out their shelter puppy in 2005. He's a shiny black dog too. It's so great to see them get a good life they deserve so much! Thank you and have tons of fun!

You are such an angel. I volunteer at a shelter and the shy dogs and black ones are so quickly dismissed by most visitors. I spend every free moment with the shy ones trying to cheer them up, and usually, it really makes a difference, but I can't be there every day to "warm them up." Bless you again. Vena

May God bless you for the rest of your life because he sure blessed Coach the day you didn't walk past him. I look at that first picture especially and read your little story and I just broke down. I can't even imagine how anyone could hurt such a beautiful dog. Any dog for that matter. All's they want to do is love you, their love is truly the meaning of unconditional. I had two mixed black labs they were my babies I used to tell my husband I would leave him before I left my babies, he would laugh and say I know that is true. May you and Coach have many, many years together.

Thanks for rescuing Coach. Some of the most frightened dogs in shelters make the very best pets. He is a gorgeous dog and I love his very shiny coat. Hugs and kisses.

I encourage everyone to consider rescuing a pup! It is the most rewarding experience! I can't imagine not having the unconditional love I get from this little guy =)
