What a gorgeous dog! GREAT for you adopting a doggie, especially a senior citizen! My vet had a friend whose shepherd lived to be 20--WOW! So hopefully, you will have many years ahead of you with your fine pooch. She looks like she has a bit of Chow Chow in her, too--those purple tongue spots!

You are so blessed to find this dog. What a gem! I'm AMAZED at how my Scotch & Mika look EXACTLY alike! Color, coat, tail, eyes, everything! Scotch hated the water, though. :-) He proved to be my dearest friend over the years. I got him from the SPCA when he was a puppy & I was a sophmore in art school. Scotch died Jan. 24th. I had him for 17 years. Treasure your time! :-)

Mika reminds me of a dog we adopted when I was a kid living in Ottawa! Ours was a sheltie collie with racoon eyes. She was such a dear and when we brought her home she couldn't stop racing around in joy the outside of the house.

She's such a lovely lady! I adopted my cockapoo when she was 7 years old. Five years later, she's still going strong! Here's hoping you and Mika will have many more happy years together, too. :)

Well done for adopting an older treasure. As you have found it is well worth it. I too have an older adoptee - she is 5/6 ish they think - who spent a year in kennels after being found wandering in a poor state. She is a very happy girl like your Mika although she does have some behavoural problems but love conquers all and every day she is getting more settled. There is nothing better than a rescue except perhaps 2 or 3! The Very Best of Luck with Mika.

Mika is lovely! I have a collie shepherd named Lou, who could be Mika's twin. Oh my gosh, they look so much alike, it's scary! Lou is 13 years old. We adopted him from the pound when he was two. He is a loyal companion who is very sweet and sensitive. I seriously could not ask for a better dog! Thanks for sharing.

OMG. My first dog was a sheppard/collie mix. BEST DOG EVER. Her name was Shadow because she followed us everywhere. Great temperament, but also protective. She looked almost exactly like this except lighter (might have had yellow lab somewhere) and less pointy ears. This almost brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting.
