Rusty has to be one of the most handsome greyhounds I have ever seen! There's something about this breed that wins my heart. I can't decide whether it's their regale and elegant appearance or the fact that they love to be couch potatoes. :)

It warms my heart to see another person who has truly benefited in life from the love of a dog... especially a greyhound!

Sorry to hear about your sad loss. What a beautiful, soulful face Rusty has, I'm glad he was there to help you through a difficult time.

Rusty is great!!!!
I like how he has a happy pet dog type of look on his face. Most of the adopted racing greyhounds I see seem very serious, maybe from their years of hard work at the track.
Is that Frieda in the background? They seem like a lovely family.

Wow, Rusty, you are a hero. Kudos for your comfort to your mommy and daddy!

Big dogs Rule! You're lucky to have this fellah to help you through your loss. Dogs can make life much more bearable sometimes. Rescuing a dog usually ends up helping us as much as them! Peace to you and many biskits for your furry friends!!!!

My Mandy was almost 4 years old when I got her from a Greyhouse Rescue (REGAP). She was the sweetest, most gentle dog, and a real couch potatoe. May handsome Rusty and gorgeous Frieda provide you many more years of comfort and happiness. Hugs and kisses to each of your prescious babies.
Oct 24, 2007 doxiemommy83
What a sweet sweet gentle face! I bet he is just so snuggle to cuddle with- dogs are the BEST medicine- give him and Frieda hugs and kisses for me!

Awww, Rusty is wonderful. He looks like a combination of supermodel and cartoon character with those expressive eyes and impossibly long legs and lovely coat. Work it!

First, condolences on the loss of your husband. Such a sad time to go through.

But thank goodness for Rusty! I love those insanely long legs. Does he manage to get them out of the way when he's cuddling? And the love of a dog is such a rewarding experience on so many levels. Good luck with your "kids".

I love hearing about greyhound rescues. Good for you! They are both gorgeous babies and I'm sure they will be there for you many more times. :)

You have wonderful babies. Both are beautiful. So sleek. I'm so glad Rusty has made you happy and brought joy into your life at a tough time.

I am so sorry for your husband's illness. It's not difficult to see the character in Rusty's eyes. What a lovely baby he is. Please give him a belly rub for me.
Oct 24, 2007 Yankee-7
Wow. What a goodlookin' dog... Your female looks kinda more like a whippit...
So sorry to hear about your husband though.... Good thing Rusty's there for ya!

Lovely dog.
I am a big fan of greys.
Many years of happiness to you
Oct 24, 2007 irishmarmalade
Yay! More greyhounds on the Daily Puppy! Rusty is such a handsome hound.
Oct 24, 2007 Bobbie
God Bless you for rescuing Rusty and Frieda! We had a total of 6 greys over a 14 year period, our last past away just this previous July! My house is so empty without a greyhound in it. At one time I had 6, but two of them were fosters! The most I have ever had at one time is four and I have discovered that greyhounds are like potato chips, you can't have just one. Best of luck with your greys and enjoy every single second with them My oldest one lived to be almost 15 years old! By the way, your "kids" are fine looking greys!

What a beautiful boy! I can certainly believe that he brought you a great deal of comfort during a difficult time. So glad you adopted him (and his sister).

Thank you for rescuing Rusty and Frieda and giving them the good life they deserve. I'm glad Rusty was there to comfort you during your husband's illness. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dogs are beautiful and I hope they give you many, many years of joy. Give them each a belly rub from me!
Oct 24, 2007 flutey48
Your "kids" are proof that racing greyhounds should be STOPPED forever. It is cruel. Dogs are such a wonderful time after losing a loved one... hugs to you all!
Oct 24, 2007 Pandena
Thank you for making my day! Rusty is just perfect. With his elegant long legs and nose, and those big soulful eyes, he's absolutely irresistible. It's probably a good thing I'm across the pond in the UK, otherwise I'd have moved in! I'm so sorry about your husband, but I'm glad that Rusty was (is) there to give you comfort. Frieda is beautiful too, I'm hoping that she will be a future grown-up puppy (hint hint!). Thank you again for sharing these wonderful pictures, and please give Rusty and Frieda belly rubs and ear scratches from me. With love from another greyhound fan!
Oct 24, 2007 therockydog
Thank you for your lovely words about our pups. Rusty and Frieda are my 3d and 4th greyhounds, and I am besotted with the breed. They are smart, sweet, easy to care for and clean, and wonderful companions. I've married a terrific widower and he loves them as much as I do. In fact, Frieda (born on the 4th of July so we named her appropriately) likes him best! I urge everyone to consider rescue rather than buying pups. All of ours have been great dogs.
Oct 24, 2007 Lizanne
Hi Rusty, Thanks for bringing your Mom and Dad lots of laughs. You are very beautiful and I love Greyhounds. I am on a Greyhound Rescue list here in NY. I think one would make a perfect companion for Miss Katie, but don't tell her daddy.Shh.

God bless you for opening your home to these 2 lucky greys. I've always loved these dogs. There's just something about the breed that makes you just want to love them. Of course I feel that way about all dogs (and cats too)
Oct 25, 2007 joandshadow
I have really never seen a grey hound before-very interesting!!!Such long legs...I have learned alot about this breed due to the comments and your pictures. Thank you for sharing....I have alot to learn about dog breeds. Your dog is a beauty!!!!

These are awesome animals. I've come in contact with some that have been rescued and needed to be adopted. One came right up to me and bumped into my arm so I would pet him. Gentle Giants are what I'd call them. He's so cute!!!!! :) They do have personalities!!! I'm glad he was able to help your family cope with your situation. Best to Rusty and his whole family and yay to you for adopting them!!! :) Love the happy guy smiley here!! :)

First, I have to offer my condolences regarding your husband. When my dad was dying, he also found great amounts of comfort in our pets. In fact, our dog Brandie, who had died a year earlier, "visited" my dad a few weeks before he died. He said he felt her put her chin in his hand (she always did that).
And after my dad was gone, our pets were great sources of comfort for my mom. I'm so glad you have your dogs, and I pray that they give you huge amounts of comfort at this time.
Oct 27, 2007 Mom2Max
What sweet dogs!

My sympathies to your husband...
Oct 29, 2007 sandi
for some reason it will not let me choose a pic right now?! :? anyway, I'm glad you found comfort in Rusty when you needed it most and that he found a loving home where he was wanted and needed. I'm so glad that he now has Frieda as a playmate and that you now have a loving husband also. Many happy years together. I'm always fasinated with these noble, royal looking beast (that is said with the greatest respect) I'm so glad that there is a great rescue org. for them. I think it is horrible the way some of these poor animals have been mistreated. Thanks so much for the many wonderful folks who provide greyhounds and other dogs (other animals also) with kind and loving homes) :)

this picture makes him look like Cerebrus as I always imagined
Cool dog, a bit skinny though
