Venus and Neptune's mom says: I adopted Venus the day I bought my new house. A family had decided to give her up (I'll never know why!) and she was to go into the golden retriever rescue program. My realtor was a volunteer for the group and knew I'd be a great mom to her. That was in 2000 and she's been with me ever since. Ten months later I decided I wanted a companion for Venus and I found the Irish setter rescue group. Irish setters were so popular when I was a kid and I've always thought they are beautiful dogs. When I called the rescue they said they had a 1 1/2 year old male, exactly what I was looking for, so I thought it must be meant to be. Venus and Neptune became instant best friends. They get along wonderfully, partly because they are such opposites. Neptune is a more serious dog. He's very driven on our walks, but once that is over, he becomes a couch potato. He's slowly warming up to his new pack member, Lovie. Venus is beautiful and loves to play. She's enjoying having a puppy around and she doesn't act like she's eight years old.
