Aw, Cel, you deserve every word! Your kind of service is almost a calling, IMO. The animals recognize your caring, and even if you give an unwanted dog just one day of feeling loved before he is lost, that is a gift beyond measure.

Cel, you know Phyrie and I both mean it, wholeheartedly! Even though both of us are very clever :P others see your "gift" as well. You relate to these dogs and they feel it and know it. Dogs are very smart like that.

To me, it's been a blink since you first joined at approximately age 14. I'm quite sure it feels much longer to you. Stay focused, as I know you will and as you can already see, the world is your oyster. You do have a calling, and I feel privileged to be able to watch you grow. (I had better get an invite to your wedding one day, along with Phyrie!) We'll get the party started. :D

Your are most welcome angel. The greatest part about your maturity is the ability to have discussions and learn that even if we don't agree, we can discuss. That is an asset that many adults severely lack. Some people go through life with blinders on, oblivious to anything but their own, small, uninformed thoughts. You aren't one of them.

Set your goals as high as you can dream, and go for it!

I'm so happy Bailey found a home! What a sweet girl

Crush is next, hopefully soon!

And Cel I agree you deserve every good and kind word that was said about you.

Vielen dank

I took this gal out a few days ago but didn't get a picture myself. She was fearful and I didn't want to try my bulky camera. She came in a month or so ago with a litter and she was skin and bones. Her head was even sunken in. A staff member took her into foster care and fattened her up. (Pups were weaned and went into foster care with someone else) She back now and up for adoption. I took her out and at first she seemed fine then we got into the classroom (just me and her) and she started becoming fearful. So I closed the door to drown out the sound of the lobbyroom and sat down and just started clicking and rewarding for glances at me, then steps forward. Gradually moving up and by the end of our little session she was playing tug with me and zooming around, licking like a crazy chick. A nice gal, it wouldn't take much for her to warm up to someone, just needs a family who'll work with her.
Her name is Autumn

I don't know anything about this guy/gal but I plan on taking him/her out tomorrow. Just look at that face.

What a perfect name for Autumn, she is the color of my maple tree right now. I'm so glad you are there to give her a better chance at being adopted. Some people see fearful dogs and they stop there, they don't see any possibilities for them. Love is way too powerful to discount. BTW, I had never clicker trained until Caru and I am amazed at how it works.

The next pup looks adorable too, what a cute face!

Skip, Chester, Crush, and Autumn are still there. :/

I took out the chin today, it's a girl and her name is Nikita. She is a owner surrender because they were homeless.

She is a ball of fun! She was shy when I went to get her in the kennel, but not at all after I took her out which was odd. I brought her up to see the front desk staff just to see how she'd react and she was very good and loved seeing them. And oh my god she is soft! Softest bully I've ever laid hands on. She's adorable, as you can tell, and has a American Pit Bull Terrier body but a bulldog head. She's only around 38lbs, pretty small girl.
She isn't a particularly bright dog, but she is very well mannered and just a lot of fun to be around.

Oh, Nikita looks like tons of fun! I can see her teeth are out of position (typical for a badly bred bully dog) but they look so tiny! How old is she?

Someone is going to just LOVE that face and take her home soon. I can just feel it!

I actually don't know how old she is, I'd guess around a year and a half.

Chester got adopted!

I took pictures of two more puppies for Pet of the Week so I'll have those later. :)

Cel, I'm very happy for Chester! I didn't think he would be there long. Mind you, I don't think any of them will be. I do tend to get their names mixed up, but Chester's I could remember. Sheesh, I'm aging exponentially these days!

I can't wait to see the new photos.

Sorry they're late y'all, busy, busy day.

The puppies were total opposites! One was spastic, even for a puppy, and the other one was very calm and well mannered for a puppy. Around the same age, 6 months or so.

First one is a little girl, the spastic one, Pheonix. She's a sweet little gal and she definitely keeps you on your toes! She'd need a ton of toys and things to do. The trainer brought out Zeda and let them play for awhile. She was a hard one to photograph.

She has a heartish shape on her chest :)

And this is Lava, he is such a well mannered little man. He barely pulled on the leash, was fantastic for pictures but still was playful when I took out the ball and toys. He'd be a nice puppy for a more easy going family. He's a gentleman.

Oh Cel those last one posted are adorable! I am a bit partial to black and white dogs though

It looks like the last little guy may have some allergies going on by the looks of his legs. Has he been chewing on them?

I'm glad Chester was adopted! Any of the others yet?

I haven't heard of any others, I'll have to see Monday. :) And Lava got his dew claws removed that's why the bandages are there.

Cel, both Phoenix and Lava are beautiful!

Phoenix has beautiful markings, and yes the marking on her chest does slightly resemble a heart shape. As you said, I'm sure she'll calm down a bit in a forever, loving home that takes the time she needs to train and play with her.

Lava does look like a gentleman already. I too wondered about his back foot, but am pleased to hear it was a dew claw removal and not something more serious.

Kris has often mentioned, and I've heard it from other sources as well, that for some reason Black dogs have a harder time being adopted. To me, that seems ridiculous, but I know people were more afraid of my Black Lab than my Golden, which they had entirely backwards! 8)

As with all of the dogs in the care of any Shelter, I hope they find their loving forever homes soon.

Linda, why am I not surprised that you love black and white dogs. They are all beautiful!

Linda definitely isn't biased at all.

The black dog thing, shelter folks call it "Black Dog Syndrome" it's very real, and it's not that people fear them, I'm afraid it's more depressing. Most people find the black dogs "bland". It could partially be a fear or "bad luck" thing, but it's more so that folks find them bland. Black dogs are often placed with more unique dogs (depending on age and how they get along) to draw attention. Our shelter painted the kennels bright colors in hopes of attracting attention.

Some will put bandanas and other flashy things on them. Black Labs have it the worst. :(

But these two are puppies, puppies almost always get adopted. :D
