Breeder doesn't answer back??

Postby prouddanish on Tue May 11, 2010 2:51 am

I have 4 females and 3 males, i have not got the pedigree from the breeder on one of the girls, when i contact the breeder he does not get back to me??

What is your opinion on a breeder like this?
Not even the kennel club in gets back to me, I'm a breeder my self, and i never done like this to any of my buyers, what would you do?

I would wait a bit of time in case the breeder may be out of town or on vacation and then try again to make contact and in person.

Are they close enough that you can make a stopby? We need a bit more information on how you obtained the dog and how long and info about the breeder, in order to help out. It is hard to reply without proper information.

Did you purchase your girl as breeding stock?

Have you ever seen her pedigree? Or do you just not have a copy? Unfortunately, without proof of pedigree, you very likely shouldn't breed her...not seeing the pedigree would red flag a less than stellar background.

Your knowledge of pedigree is not sufficient proof of pedigree and you should have been given this at the time you obtained her. You cant really be assured of the breeder if this was a third party transaction without proper paperwork and therefore cant breed as pedigreed animals even if they have linage back to the ying yang. (without the papers)

One more thought, you might contact the kennel if you have any contact info on them. Often the will retain copies of the desired information and you can make a trace this way to obtain the desired information.

Since you are in Europe and not in North America, and since you probably purchased the puppy from another country, is there any way you can contact the Kennel Club for the breed in the country of origin? In Canada we have the Canadian Kennel Club, and in the States, they have the American Kennel Club. Is there something similar for Europe, or does each country have their own? We also have individual clubs for individual breeds.

I would start with one of those groups and contact anyone else whom you know has contact with this breeder. From your previous posts, I know that you are a diligent breeder with honourable intentions.

This breeder probably hasn't registered the litter yet and that might be why you have still not received the Pedigree. I am still waiting for Henry's, and he's a year old. Fortunately, I know exactly where his breeder lives, as well as others with whom she has regular contact, so I'm not worried.

Good luck to you. I hope you manage to get it sorted because as you well know, she will be of no use to your breeding program without her Pedigree.
